What is the BBSA Doing in 2019

As BBSA suppliers we work hard in the background, primarily with the government lobbying to achieve the following points: Amazon, Alibaba, Ebay and the like, enjoy better tax & import duty advantages over high- street suppliers like our members. We want a level “playing field”, not having rent & rates to pay as online suppliers we want the government to stop disadvantaging the high-street.
Other governments give grants for exhibitions to companies exporting, we feel that to reduce UK suppliers costs, can be passed on to the retail sector we want the UK government should be doing the same.
An exciting partnership is being launched with Ocean Media, resulting in deals for BBSA members both retailers and suppliers. We are also looking to collaborate with other organisations who want to fully support and represent the independent retailer.

After such an outstanding 2018, we are further developing the strategy of bringing closer together the “brides beware” campaign and the bridal sale week, why?, we are totally committed to ensuring that todays bride understands that visiting independent retailers is the only viable option. This is why other than a massive facebook presence we use the National Wedding shows as a platform for this, attracting over 90,000 possible brides. We are working hard to promote the independent retailer and believe the local specialist bridal store is key to the British bridal industry and the high-street, this is a National campaign that is currently in development championing the independent bridal store.

2018 saw another two successful Bridal Sale Weeks across the UK and Ireland. Don’t take our word for it let your fellow retailers give you their thoughts.

The dates for the 2019 Bridal Sale Weeks are as follows, July 5th-7th and Nov 29th-1st (Black Friday Weekend).
