Research Reveals the Average Age of Marriage in the UK

November 30 2017

Hilliers Jewellers have collated exclusive data from the Office of National Statistics to reveal the average age of marriage across UK cities.

The data shows that Britains most populated cities have the lowest age. Leicester has the lowest age 34 for men and 31 for women with Manchester and London coming in 2nd and 3rd place- getting married around the age of 35 (men) and 32 (women).

The oldest wedding towns are all located on the coast such as Blackpool where the average age is 41 for men and 38 for women. The national average is 37 for men and 35 for women which is a huge increase compared to 40 years ago where it was 30 for men and 27 for women with the data confirming what we already thought- people are now waiting longer to get married and settle down.
